Construction Management

The Facilities and Construction Management Department is the overall planning, coordinating and control of a project from beginning to completion. The Department seeks to produce a functionally and financially viable project for the District through the use of architectural design, institutional design, engineering design, environmental design and planning.

The function of the Construction Management division includes the following:

- Specifying project objectives and plans including delineation of scope, budgeting, scheduling, setting performance requirements, and selecting project participants.

- Maximizing the resource efficiency through procurement of labor, materials and equipment.

- Implementing various operations through proper coordination and control of planning, design, estimating, contracting and construction in the entire process.

- Developing effective communications and mechanisms for resolving conflicts

Facility Master Planning

The District is presently in the final year of the current Facility Master Facility Plan funded by Prop P.

Carlsbad Unified School Board approved a new Long Range Facility Master Plan in January 2018 that covers up to the next fifteen (15) years of construction and modernizations on all CUSD owned sites.

District Staff along with Rachlin Architects and Erickson Hall Construction are in the CAC Modernization (to address code compliance issues only) and under construction on the Lancer Arena Re-roof. We are looking to reach a preliminary GMP in February 2018, and a final GMP in September 2018.
