Derrick Anderson, Senior Construction Manager

Mr. Anderson is a Licensed Civil Engineer, Certified Construction Manager and Land Surveyor in Training. Mr. Anderson has more than 27 years of experience in planning, design, construction and development. He has been involved in a wide array of projects, and performed in various project management and engineering capacities on capital improvement projects all throughout San Diego County including serving as the program manager for the City of Chula Vista’s Capital Improvement Program. Mr. Anderson’s project experience includes light and heavy railroad, public transit, bridges, public buildings and parks (new and retrofit), streets and streetscapes, large diameter water pipelines, large interceptor sewers, hydroelectric generation, storm-drains, traffic signals, lighting, wastewater treatment, pump stations, pipelines and tunnels, soils and groundwater remediation, demolition and clearing for future development and environmental permitting with various resource agencies.

Mr. Anderson’s education history includes studies at the Community College level (Palomar and Mesa Colleges) and University (SDSU) level between 1990 and 1996 in general education, construction management, engineering economics and estimating, hydraulics, hydrology, engineering materials, highway design, transportation engineering, surveying, thermodynamics and structural engineering, culminating in his professional licenses and credentials.

Cordula Richards, Administrative Assistant

Ms. Richards graduated from "Kollegiat der Englischen Fräulein", a college in Bamberg, Germany with main focus on Linguistics. After graduating she worked for the United States Army Europe, with an initial assignment as Customer Service Representative at the base Housing Office. Ms. Richards subsequently accepted a position as Executive Assistant for the Director of Public Works and continued her career as Management Assistant for command teams of a Transportation Battalion (4 years), a Military Police Brigade (5 years) and a Logistics Unit (4 years). Ms. Richards earned a certificate as Organization Defense Travel Administrator, and is proficient in the coordination and management of front office programs. Ms. Richards joined the CUSD team in July of 2019.

Carlsbad Unified School District is proud to contract construction management services through Project Professional Corporation (PPC) for the Measure HH Bond Program. PPC’s responsibilities include working in collaboration with District staff, architects, DSA, contractors and consultants in all phases of construction including planning and design development, procurement of related services, construction of new and modernization of existing facilities and project close-out and commissioning. PPC also works closely with District staff to assure that prop funds are spent for the purpose they were intended by participating on the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee.
