Welcome to the Carlsbad Unified School District!
 

Our teachers, administrators and support staff are committed to academic excellence and quality service for our families. As such, we hope to make the enrollment process as quick and convenient as possible. To enroll just follow the steps outlined below and you'll be on your way to a successful school experience.
 

Before you start...
 

Assigned Neighborhood Schools:

Based on the address of your residence, you will be assigned a neighborhood school. If you are unsure if your address is located within the CUSD attendance boundaries, you can use the link below to look up your residence address.  Your actual school of residence will be determined by the online enrollment process. Please be advised: If the TK classroom at one school reaches capacity (which varies by school because of grade span adjustment), students may be assigned to another open TK classroom within CUSD.  No transfer requests will be accepted for TK. 

The only exception to this policy on Assigned Neighborhood Schools is for high school students; they choose which school to attend when they enroll for the first time.  High School students may elect to change schools during a specific Open Enrollment Period each year.

** Please be aware: If you live in the new Mirasol Apartments, there is a bug in our system. It will say your assigned school is  Calavera Hills Elementary however it actually is Hope Elementary. Please take your paperwork to Hope Elementary at 3010 Tamarack Ave, Carlsbad (760-331-5900). Sorry for the inconvenience.**

 

Intradistrict Open Enrollment Policy:

The district has an intradistrict enrollment policy that allows students to apply to attend a school other than their assigned school. Applications are only accepted during a designated period of time each year, depending on the grade level.  Note that each school is required to serve the students who live within its attendance boundary before accepting students outside the boundary. Additionally, some schools may be unavailable for open enrollment.

For students new to the district, CUSD has set up an online data entry process that will help you get started with the enrollment process. You must have a valid address within the Carlsbad Unified School District attendance area to use this system. If your address is not accepted by the system, and you believe it is within our boundaries, please contact Ruth Cartagena in Pupil Services. Verification of residence and immunizations will be required before you complete the enrollment process.

Step 2 - Required Documents

Once you have completed the online data entry process, your next step is to verify your child's enrollment eligibility. There are several required documents you must have in order to complete the enrollment process.

 

Step 3 - Enrollment Verification

Once you have assembled the required documents, you'll need to verify enrollment. This must be done at one of two locations, depending on the time of year.

During the regular school year - September - June

During the 2017-2018 summer period July 1 - August 31st
