2020 Board Meeting Documents

All regular meetings will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Carlsbad Unified School District Office, 6225 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, California. Map (Outside Link) unless otherwise noted.

2020 Board Meeting Schedule

April 2020 Update: In an attempt to control the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to reduce and minimize the risk of infection, Governor Newsom issued an executive order on March 12, 2020, issuing guidance “limiting attendance at public assemblies, conferences, or other mass events.” In this executive order, the Governor waived the Open Meeting Brown Act requirements that require a majority of board members to physically participate in a public board meeting at the same location. This means that board trustees will be allowed to participate in board meetings during this time of pandemic remotely (via teleconference).

On March 17, 2020 Governor Newsom issued Executive Order N-29-20, which among other things, specifically withdraws and supersedes Executive Order N-25-20. Under the new order, the requirement to make a physical location available for the public has been eliminated. A District can comply with public attendance and comment requirements holding a meeting via "teleconferencing" and allowing members of the public to observe and comment either telephonically, or otherwise electronically.

The Carlsbad Unified School District is doing its part to help in the efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by encouraging members of the public to watch/listen to the Board of Trustees meetings live online. Beginning in April 2020, and until further notice, meetings will be live streamed and the link will be posted in Board Docs at 5:00 pm on the date of the meeting.

HOW TO PROVIDE PUBLIC COMMENT

If members of the public would like to provide feedback or public comment to the Board of Trustees about an upcoming agenda, please email michelle.bell@carlsbadusd.net no later than noon on the day of the meeting. The public is encouraged to submit feedback at least 24 hours before the meeting to allow time for Trustees to review the comments.

Please observe the following procedures:

  1. If you desire to have your comment read into the record at the Board meeting, please indicate so in the first line of your e-mail and limit your comments to 500 words or less. 
  2. Requests for written comments to be read aloud will be honored as long as they are received no later than noon on the day of the meeting. 
  3. Please note there are time limitations for public comment (three minutes for non-agenda items, and five minutes for agenda items, not to exceed 15 minutes for each agenda item). Comments may be shortened, and/or the Board may change the time limits for comments depending on the number of comments received.
